Visiting Van Cleef & Arpels' Emerald Garden: The Art of Craftsmanship in Handmade Gemstone Jewelry

1949 emerald necklace created for an Indian royal commission, featuring emeralds and diamonds by Van Cleef & Arpels.

Before the Exhibition

When I first began building HANAÉ, the way I looked at jewelry began to change.

As a designer focusing on handmade gemstone jewelry for wholesalers and boutique owners, I found myself becoming more curious about the world's leading luxury houses. I wasn't only interested in their jewelry anymore. I wanted to understand their philosophy, their visual language, their craftsmanship, and the way they communicate with people.

For me, branding is much more than creating beautiful products.

It is about building a world that retailers and customers can trust.

Why I Wanted to Visit the Emerald Garden

When I heard about Van Cleef & Arpels' Emerald Garden exhibition, I knew I had to visit.

Partly because I love emerald green.

Partly because it was a rare opportunity to experience one of the world's most respected jewelry houses in person.

Of course, I also hoped to capture beautiful photographs.

But more importantly, I wanted to experience their world for myself.

Moments That Stayed With Me

One piece kept me standing still for quite a while.

The crown.

Even knowing it was a display piece, I couldn't stop thinking about the incredible craftsmanship behind it.

The harmony of emeralds, diamonds, pearls, and colored gemstones felt timeless rather than excessive.

Another unforgettable piece was the emerald necklace created in 1949 for an Indian royal commission.

The beauty of the gemstones was extraordinary, but what impressed me even more was the precision of the setting and the flawless finishing.

That was the moment I quietly thought,

"This is why true craftsmanship feels different."

Looking Beyond Jewelry

For many years, my attention naturally focused on design.

Beautiful colors.

Interesting gemstone combinations.

Creative ideas.

But building HANAÉ has gradually changed the way I look at jewelry.

Today, I pay much closer attention to the gemstones themselves.

Gemstone quality.

Character.

Durability.

Finishing.

Plating.

Every small detail that contributes to the final piece.

That doesn't mean I believe every collection should only use the rarest natural gemstones.

As a gemstone jewelry supplier, I also think about the retailers who will eventually present these collections to their customers.

My responsibility is to find balance.

A balance between thoughtful design.

Beautiful gemstone combinations.

Reliable craftsmanship.

Long-lasting materials.

Consistent quality.

And a price that allows retailers to build successful collections with confidence.

Finding that balance has become one of the most important challenges behind HANAÉ.

More Than Jewelry

Van Cleef & Arpels Emerald Garden exhibition space showcasing immersive brand storytelling through jewelry displays, lighting, and multimedia design.

[Where jewelry and storytelling became a complete brand experience]

The exhibition reminded me that a brand is never built by products alone.

It is built through experiences.

Through exhibition design.

Through storytelling.

Through customer experience.

Through consistency.

Through countless details that customers may never consciously notice, but always remember.

As both a wholesaler and a designer, experiencing the exhibition as a visitor gave me a completely different perspective.

It reminded me that creating jewelry is only one part of building a brand.

Creating meaningful experiences is equally important.

That realization continues to shape the way I build HANAÉ.

What This Means for HANAÉ

As a wholesaler, I don't want to stand in the spotlight.

My role is different.

I want to continue studying trends—not to chase them, but to create handmade gemstone jewelry that feels modern today and timeless years from now.

Every collection begins with research.

Design.

Trends.

Gemstones.

Craftsmanship.

Finishing.

Durability.

Materials.

Price.

My responsibility as a handmade jewelry wholesaler is to keep searching for the right balance between them.

A balance that allows retailers to confidently build collections they are proud to present.

While you focus on building meaningful relationships with your customers,

I'll continue researching, refining, and improving everything behind the scenes.

My promise is simple:

to keep growing,

so you can keep building your collections with confidence.

Our Commitment

One day,

I hope someone simply says,

"HANAÉ is different."

Not because it follows every trend.

Not because it uses the rarest gemstones.

But because every collection reflects thoughtful design, craftsmanship, quality, balance, trust.

Because retailers know they can rely on HANAÉ.

Because they know every collection has been created with care—not only for the jewelry itself, but also for the people who choose to build their businesses with it.

That is the kind of wholesaler—and the kind of brand—I hope HANAÉ will become.

Quietly supporting retailers behind the scenes,

so they can confidently shine in front of their customers.
